In the heart of the village, the house that hosts your accommodations was once a former post house, a living witness to life in the past. Carefully restored, it has preserved its period charm: thick walls, noble materials, authentic details… while now offering the modern comfort expected for a peaceful stay.
Staying here means enjoying a place full of character, where every space tells a part of Chanaz’s history while welcoming you in a warm and tranquil atmosphere.

On the ground floor of this building, which is believed to date back to the 17th century, there were stables, a kitchen, and a tavern side by side. Boatmen and the horses of Rhône convoys found lodging and meals here.
In medieval times, most of the residents of Chanaz lived from river-related activities. Many professions were represented. Chanaz was known for its skilled boat builders, as well as raftmen, boatmen, towpath workers, carters, rope makers, porters, toll keepers, and others.
The well next to this building reaches a depth of 13 meters. It never runs dry, even during periods of low water. A valuable source of drinking water at the time, useful for the post house and nearby homes.
